Vote in the Grandview General Election - May 7th
My family has lived in and loved the Grandview community for five generations. I come from a long line of women who served Grandview in many capacities. While I have 19 years of teaching experience, I am currently employed by the Grandview ISD where I have taught for the past 10 years at Grandview Elementary. Community service is very important to me. I served on the Grandview Chamber of Commerce Board for several years and was board president for two terms. Before joining the City Council in 2018, I served on the City of Grandview's Planning and Zoning Committee for five years. Four years ago, I decided to run for City Council because I saw that Grandview was moving forward in a positive direction. I wanted to do my part to help the town I love succeed.
Since joining the City Council in 2018, I have been very proud to be part of these accomplishments. The city has used sales tax allotments through the Street Maintenance Fund to repair over $2 million in roads. The City of Grandview has received over $2 million in grants to improve the sewer system, the city park, downtown parking and to repair roads. Through careful planning and budgeting, the city was able to purchase and remodel the old Windstream building without adding debt. This then freed up several buildings to add more commerce to the downtown area. The city is in the final stage of the Criner Street brick project with TxDOT, which will update the downtown area while preserving the brick streets. Grandview City Council has continued to be fiscally conservative which has allowed us to lower the property tax rate for our citizens. Our sales tax revenue continues to reach all time highs due to strategic moves made by the current council. In efforts to plan more effectively for growth, the City Council has put in place impact fees for developers and builders. These fees will help the City of Grandview maintain and upgrade infrastructure. I am proud to serve with our current council members because we all have one common goal which is to "promote commerce and plan for controlled growth."
I ask for your support by voting for Meghan York Council Place 5 in the Grandview General Election on May 7th.
